Sony is challenging Gran Turismo 7 players to race against its AI-powered driver, GT Sophy. The company recently announced the launch of a new competition that will pit human drivers against the virtual racer in an online tournament.
The competition, called “GT7 vs. GT Sophy,” will take place on April 24th and 25th and feature two different races: one for beginners and one for advanced players. Players can sign up now at Sony’s official website or through their PlayStation Network account.
To participate in the event, you’ll need to have a copy of Gran Turismo 7 installed on your PS4 console as well as an active PlayStation Plus subscription (which is required for online play). You’ll also need to be 18 years old or older and have a valid email address associated with your PSN account.
Once registered, participants will compete in two separate qualifying rounds – one each day – where they must complete three laps around Tokyo Expressway South Inner Loop circuit within a certain time limit. The top 16 finishers from each round will then advance to the finals which will take place later that same day at 9pm BST/10pm CEST/11pm EET (GMT+3).
In addition to bragging rights, winners of both beginner and advanced categories will receive exclusive rewards such as special cars from Gran Turismo Sport’s Vision series lineup plus other digital goodies like avatars and themes for their PS4 consoles. All finalists who don’t win first prize are still eligible for consolation prizes including additional digital content items like car liveries or custom parts packs from GT7’s extensive selection of customization options available via My Garage mode.
